Sponsor KC

KC was first welcomed into the DDI family in 2022 as an administrative intern, choreographer, and dancer. In addition to her work with DDI, KC has been a resident company member at Mutual Dance Theatre since 2023. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, she began her formal dance training at the age of 12 at Toledo School for the Arts. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Wright State University in 2021, KC joined Dayton Contemporary Dance Company 2 as a dance artist for the 2021-2022 season.  As an emerging choreographer, she has been commissioned by Dayton Dance Initiative, Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company, Suttle Dance Detroit, Ted-X Dayton, Toledo School for the Arts, and Sarasota Contemporary Dance's Rising Choreographer program. As an educator, she takes pride in her work as a local dance instructor for recreational and competitive students. KC is thrilled to create, dance and take on her new role as Company Manager for the Dayton Dance Initiative.

What inspires you in this world? Why do you dance?

I feel inspired by little things every day; sun beams, yummy food, cute little bugs, seeing strangers going for walks in my neighborhood. I think it’s the simple pleasures that keep me invested in enjoying my life day to day.

Dancing is something that I always come back to no matter what, and I feel called to do it. I feel ill without movement.

What is your favorite thing about DDI?

My favorite thing about DDI is the relationships that I have formed with other artists in the community. I have met such great friends through DDI that I don’t think I would have otherwise had the chance to work so closely with.
