Harry Broadbent began his early training in Concord, New Hampshire after seeing his first performance of The Nutcracker. At Age 12, Harry was accepted into Boston Ballet School’s Pre-Professional Program and then asked to join as a trainee in 2017, under the direction of Margaret Tracey and Peter Stark. He attended summer programs at Bolshoi, School of American Ballet, and Boston Ballet. In 2019, Harry joined Ballet Austin’s second company where he found the true joy of working alongside a company. He then moved to Dayton in 2021, where he joined Dayton Ballet and have been here since. This will be Harry’s first season with Dayton Dance Initiative and he is beyond thrilled.

Seasons with DDI?:

This will be my first season with DDI

Company Affiliation: Dayton Ballet

What inspires you in this world? Why do you dance?

Art inspires me in this world. Every nook and cranny of it. From the mundane, to the theatrics of art. I find that art is found in just about everything and anything we do. Dance has allowed me to connect my physical form to the art I just can’t put into words.

What do you love about DDI?

I am so excited to join DDI this season because I’ve watched how it has fostered the artists’ ability to create authentically. I’ve witnessed colleagues create and join fresh new works, emerging a more inspired, passionate artist.

Favorite small business in Dayton.

My favorite small business in Dayton has to be Shag. They truly have such a unique and fun presence that I attached to immediately once moving to Dayton. The Shag team is built up with really incredible artists and are always expanding their community.
