Catherine Voorhees
dancer
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Catherine Voorhees discovered her passion for dance at a young age and trained locally with Le Jeune Dance Academy. She furthered her dance education through summer intensives with renowned companies and schools, including Ellison Ballet, Joffrey Ballet Academy, BalletMet, and Carolina Ballet.
In 2020, Catherine joined the Trainee program at BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio, where she had the opportunity to perform in exciting repertoire by great choreographers such as Edwaard Liang, Gerard Charles, and George Balanchine. After two years of refining her technique, she went on to dance with Cleveland Ballet for the 2022-2023 season, where she performed works such as Balanchine’s Serenade.
Catherine then returned home to Cincinnati to dance with Cincinnati Ballet as a trainee, where she had the opportunity to perform repertoire such as George Balanchine’s Emeralds, the soloist role in Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, and Victoria Morgan’s The Nutcracker. Now in her second season with Dayton Ballet, Catherine has expanded her repertoire with performances such as the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty and Adam Houghland's Cold Virtues. Catherine is thrilled to be joining Dayton Dance Initiative for her first season!
